July Wildlife and Wildflowers

July is the month barrel cactus bloom.  There are also flowers on pin cushion cactus if we get enough rain.

Pin Cushion cactus (only about 3 inches high and 3 inches in diameter)
The Unicorn plant is one of the few wildflowers that blooms in mid- to late-summer.
July sees all sorts of babies.  This is probably a variable sandsnake.
It was about two inches long when I took this photo.

Bubba is a Sonoran toad that lives in my fountain.
The monsoons bring him out of his burrow.
He's the largest toad in the U.S.
and toxic too if you were to try eating him.

July also has us seeing more wildlife--some we may not want to see!
